About Revd Dr Ayla Lepine

Revd Dr Ayla Lepine's research focuses on art and religion in nineteenth and twentieth-century Britain. She is Associate Rector at St James's Piccadilly, a Church of England parish in central London. In 2021-22 she was the Ahmanson Fellow in Art and Religion at the National Gallery, and has held postdoctoral fellowships at Yale's Institute of Sacred Music and the Courtauld Institute of Art. Ayla is a trustee of the UK charity Art and Christianity and a member of the St Paul's Cathedral Visual Arts Committee. She holds an MA and PhD in art history from the Courtauld Institute and an MPhil in theology from Cambridge University. Her publications include co-edited books on modern architecture and religious communities as well as articles in British Art History, Architectural History, Tate's In Focus series and the Sculpture Journal.
