Harris Manchester College
In Manchester College you will see twelve wonderful windows by Morris and Company installed in the 1890’s. Among them are three figures – Truth, Liberty, and Religion – which Burne-Jones specifically designed for Manchester. The colored sketch for this window is at Wightwick Manor. Burne-Jones designed the remaining windows, with the exception of two by Morris, the Joseph and Mary Magdalene in the east window.
The Angels of Creation are among the more striking of the windows and were first designed by Burne-Jones in 1870; he also exhibited some watercolors of this at the first exhibition of the famous Grosvenor Gallery in 1877.
