While Kelmscott Manor is undergoing much needed and extensive conservation in preparation for the 150th anniversary of Morris’ move to the Cotswolds next year, the furnishings will be on exhibition at the Society of Antiquaries in London.
Arts & Crafts Tours in supporting the conservation work and has sponsored two of the items on exhibition. A full list of works can be seen here.
Additionally we are organizing a short three-day tour based in London which will have visits to major sites and collections central to Morris’ work and life in London. In addition to a private view of the exhibit at the Society, there will be visits to Red House, Standen, the William Morris Gallery in Walthamstow along with a walk in Epping Forest where he spent many days when he was growing up. We will also spend a day in Cambridge. And we will visit Kelmscott House and the Emory Walker House in Hammersmith and have a tour of related collection at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
Although the tour does not include hotel as we realize many will may want to arrive earlier, stay on, or may even be able to commute each day. It does include lunches and dinners, transportation by luxury mini coach throughout the tour, all admissions, a reception at the Society, and guides throughout.
